InterGalactic Medicine Show
In case you haven't heard, Orson Scott Card started an online magazine called InterGalactic Medicine Show. It's first issue is out right now. It costs $2.50 per issue, and stuff keeps getting added to the issue until the next issue comes out (you can sign up for a mailing list to be informed of when new stuff is added). It also sounds like you will always have access to past issues you've paid for and can also purchase past issues at any time.
There will be at least one story in an OSC universe. This issue's Card story is set in the Ender universe and is called, "Mazer in Prison", which is also offered as an audio version. I think I will be downloading it and burning to disc to play in my car during my daily commute. Actually, first I'll have to find out if it will ruin anything since I haven't read the latest Ender book, or has it been the last two that I've missed?
Anyway, the magazine also features science fiction and fantasy stories by other authors. If you are a writer and would like to submit your work for consideration, go here.

Actually it is set prior to the opening of Ender's Game (or Ender's Shadow, for that matter) and can be read and enjoyed even if you haven't read beyond the first book.
The other content is great, too!

Thanks Rachel! I've actually been meaning to point to Erik's response to that question, but I've been busy/lazy. I agree, the other content is great too. I've only read 4 of the stories so far. I haven't read Mazer in Prison yet, but I burned the audio version to a disc this weekend and plan to listen to it Tuesday and/or Wednesday.
I enjoy getting a comment from someone I don't even know...I think this is a first for me (other than the spam comments of course)! :) Do you have a blog or website you could point me to?

Not yet. I've registered a couple domain names, but haven't yet gotten the savvy or knowhow to generate an actual website. It's on the 'someday soon' list though!
I confess to having found your site because I was googling 'Intergalactic Medicine Show.' I'm very curious as to how the mag is being viewed by folks, since "Respite" was my first sale. It was actually my first submission, as a matter of fact. I submitted the first page as a writing sample to Orson Scott Card when I applied to his writing boot camp. He denied my application for being 'too good' but bought "Respite" for the cover of the first issue of his mag.
It's been a wild ride. But a good one. So, nosey person that I am, and also since I'm such a newbie, I was checking around to see what people thought of the mag in general, and my story in particular. Not much luck so far. Mostly just people mentioning that it exists. But that's still good. I'm just psyched that I have a story! With cover art! In a mag by OSC!
Sorry if I seem a bit dazed. Still hard to take in. Also, not trying to brag, if I'm coming across that way.
Thanks for your response to my post.

So *that's* why your name looked so familiar! I was thinking that maybe you were someone who had commented on Erik's blog before, but yes, I actually just read "Respite" last weekend. I enjoyed it very much and I know Erik did too. I'm jazzed to have you looking at my blog! :)

Unfortunately, I've had to disable the comment feature. Read more about why here. If you would like to have a comment posted, send a message here and I will post it to the blog myself.
