Several of you have replied asking if there is anything you can do to help and when the memorial service is. Here is some info passed onto me by another former teacher:

Dear Friends:

It is with a really sad heart that I am sending this email to let you know that our dear friend Willie Schmidt passed away Monday morning at his home. I know some of you have already heard so I am sorry if this is redundant.

Willie had been battling cancer for several years and he suddenly took a turn for the worse only about a couple of weeks ago. They had found that his cancer was very aggressive and they gave him one chemo treatment with several more to follow but he deterioated very rapidly. We will miss him sadly. Nan is doing very well. Her friend Cheryl was with her the last couple of days to help her with Willie. We had traveled to Tennessee for our granddaughter's wedding and got home Tuesday afternoon.

There will be no viewing or funeral. Willie is being cremated and Nan has not made a definite decision on his final resting place. She is planning to have a memorial service in the near future so we will keep you posted on that.

Also, for those of you who didn't know Mr. Schmidt, he was an 11th grade US History teacher. I'm not sure if he also taught other grades. I was never actually in his class, but I knew who he was.

Sad Passing - Mr. Willie Schmidt

For those of you who had or knew Mr. Schmidt, he passed away on September 17th after a couple of bouts with cancer. A memorial service is yet to be scheduled.

Sad Passing - Mr. Jeff Perkins

I'm not sure how many of you had Mr. Jeff Perkins as a teacher. I had him for 10th grade Honors History. I really liked him. I just found out that he passed away last Friday (Dec 8).

He had been fighting cancer and it went to his brain. They discovered the first cancer when they were getting ready to do some back surgery. He went through chemo and seemed to be doing very well. Then the cancer came back and moved to his brain.

There are no plans for a service per his wishes. The only "services" will be for the immediate family. If you wish to send condolences, they may be sent to:

15-year reunion is in the works!

Hey everyone,

Thanks again to those who were able to make it to the 10-year reunion. A few more pictures have been posted to the gallery, and I hope more people will still come forward with their pictures.

Now that the 10-year is over, it's time to give some thought toward the next reunion.�Marlenna announced that she wasn't planning on doing the 20-year, so it was up for grabs.�I heard rumors that Carlina (Salters) Payne�was interested in planning the 20-year and Joyce Skeens was interested in planning the 15-year.�Also, Iman Tryon contacted me saying that she is interested in planning the 15-year.�From the feedback I've received from people who weren't able to make it to the 10-year, it sounds like a 15-year reunion would be very welcome. So we'll probably plan on having a reunion every 5 years.

I would be very interested in helping out with the 15-year, 20-year, and so on.�I'm good at keeping in touch with people and already have a lot of information from planning this reunion. I sent Joyce an email earlier today. Potentially our 15-year committee will consist of Joyce, Iman, and myself. If anyone else is interested to be on the committee, please let us know. All of the real planning details can be worked out later, but I wanted to at least let people know that one is in the works.

I had gone through all 4 yearbooks and put together a spreadsheet listing everyone who was in our class during any of those 4 years (regardless of whether or not they actually graduated from IKE). I have 95 physical addresses and 88 email addresses. This mailing list has 123 addresses, so I know there are some people who signed up that I haven't matched to their names on the spreadsheet.

Since I already have so much information and am good at keeping things organized, I propose that I be the one to collect everyone's contact info. If you provided it to the reunion company, but not to me, then I don't have it, so please pass it on to me. If you signed up for the mailing list, but didn't tell me who you are, would you mind sending me an email so I can update my spreadsheet?

Also, please try to remember to keep me updated with new contact info over the years. I plan to send an email through the mailing list about once a year to remind people to let me know if they've moved. If you happen to know any fellow classmates, be sure to send them my way to sign up for the mailing list. The mailing list should be extremely low volume until about a year or so before the next reunion. The tentative date would be Saturday, June 11, 2011.

For this next reunion, we are going to try to do it without a reunion company. There were pros and cons using one this year and I'm sure there will be pros and cons to not using one. Then for our 20-year, we will have the experience of both and can build on lessons learned from each. Ideally, we'll get better at this each time.

Please feel free to share your ideas on the MySpace Group. It would be nice to use the bulletin boards to keep in better touch with each other over the next 5 years. And of course I always welcome emails!

Pictures to Share and Biography Book Left Behind

I would like to thank all of you who were able to come; we had a decent turnout. I would especially like to thank my fellow committee members, Marlenna and Jessie.

It was great talking to those of you with whom I was able. There were several of you whom I had meant to talk with before the night was over, but that somehow didn't happen; sorry about that. Did anyone happen to get any contact info for Desi Candari? I never got any during the preparation for the reunion and he's not listed in the Biography Book. I had wanted to talk with him, but didn't get a chance to. If anyone could pass on his info to me or mine to him, I'd appreciate it.

Someone left behind a Biography Book, so if that was you and you would like it back, let me know and I'll be happy to mail it to you.

Potential Ticket Charge Error

Hi there,

If you've already purchased your tickets, be sure to check your credit card charge to make sure it's accurate. I noticed that I was overcharged by $10 when purchasing two tickets and other items. I contacted Creative Reunions and they said they will refund my $10 and that they have fixed the problem in their computer. I don't know if they automatically corrected any previous errors when fixing the problem or not. I also don't know if the error was in the ticket price or the other items purchased (memory book, photo CD, or class photo).

When you are comparing the charge to what you ordered, remember that there is a $4 fee for using a credit card.

Sorry for sending another email so soon after the last one, but I thought you should be made aware of the potential overcharge if you've already purchased your tickets. I will also likely send an email or two after the reunion to share pictures and whatnot. After that, this list should become pretty quiet.

Only two days left before ticket prices go up!

I just wanted to send a quick reminder that you only have two days left to purchase your tickets at $85 each. After Oct 20th, the prices will raise to $95 each. You have unil Nov 1st to purchase tickets at the $95 price and then you'll have to make special arrangements directly with Creative Reunions.

Invitations Are On Their Way!

Hey everyone,

I received my invitation in the mail today, so if you haven't already gotten yours, you should be getting it soon! We know we sound like a broken record, but with time running so short, we wanted to send out a few reminders:

TICKET PRICE
The price raises to $95 after October 20th (currently tickets are $85 each). Ticket price includes Dinner, Biography Book, Photo Name Badge, No Host Bar, and Discounted Rates at Pala Casino and Resort.

BIOGRAPHY BOOK
Creative Reunions needs the Biography sheets back by October 25th (I'm pretty sure they need to receive them by Oct 25th, not just that they have to be postmarked by Oct 25th), so please fill out your Biography sheet and mail it in soon. If you don't want your address listed, feel free to not fill out that portion (or only list your email address - whatever you want, it's the actual page that will be printed in the Biography Book). Even if you won't be attending the reunion, you can still be included in the Biography Book. For everyone purchasing tickets, the Biography Book is included in the ticket price. For everyone else, you can order a Biography Book for $20.

November 4th is fast approaching and we know you have not received official invitations yet (sorry for the delay everyone) but we want to encourage everyone to go ahead and purchase your tickets by going directly to the website:

When the invitations arrive, please fill out the questionnaire for the biography book and send it in so we can have those ready the night of the reunion. Creative Reunions will need it back by October 25th (again, we're very sorry for the short turn around time, it was out of our hands). It also has a section where you can include a recent photo (they don't want photocopies, so see if you can find a photo you like and be prepared to go to a kiosk at Wal-Mart or something to print it out).
