Obligatory naughtiness

I totally forgot to tell you about catching some dude in a quasi-kilt shaking his ass like he was mixing paint while standing on the back of a truck in front of the alestand on last weekend of Faire. He wasn't worth woofing at, but it isn't often that I get to see any useful kilted action. He didn't come over so I could slip a dollar in his little red thong - which, to be honest, kind of killed the urge to slip a dollar in there anyway. Didn't this guy read the kilt wearer's manual?

So - memo for next year: woofier guys in kilts shakin' that azz, no red thongs. A jockstrap is acceptable. (Barely.)

Harvest

The weather tried to pull some shit on us again and fuck up the harvest action, but somehow it up and changed its mind. Yesterday they came and ran the combine over the home field, and apparently it was so good that they had to call in a truck to haul some of it away while they were harvesting. Now this isn't a big deal for most, but we only have 40 acres (minus the corner piece we live on) here to work with, and it's not irrigated. They should be harvesting the Ponderosa today, and the hubby is so excited that he wants to ride on the combine too.

I, however, do not. Farm equipment does not look like a fun ride to me. But I'm still thrilled at how well the harvest is coming along. Now of course a big chunk of it is already spent - planting, hail insurance, the harvesting itself, not to mention other expenses we need to take care of and the cost of doing this all over again. I don't know if we're going to have enough left over to buy a new lawnmower like he wants to, but even if we don't it's still a good year for us.

Bad and surprisingly good

While hanging out in Santa Maria, Laz and I started looking around on the on demand stuff to find fun horror movies to make fun of. It turns out that they had the happy Mangler trilogy, based on the Stephen King short story of the same name. We didn't bother with the first one, which I still haven't seen and don't imagine it's hurting me much.

So anyway, Mangler 2 - horrible. It was so bad I wanted everyone in it to die. If any movie needs the shadows of robot heads making fun of it, this is it. It's the only thing that would make it really watchable.

But nevermind that crap - it's all about Mangler 3. It surprised the hell out of us how good it turned out. The gore factor is fantastic, the story is simple and very tight, and there are several moments when something happens and you get that instinctual urge to say something at the screen - and it actually happens! I can't ramble on about it because I might oversell it or give something away. If you like horror movies, see Mangler 3.

Carpal tunnel is inevitable

I've been playing Newgrounds Rumble for too long now. It's not the absolute best brawler around, but it kicks ass over any flash fighter I've ever played. My hands hurt now - mainly because of this:

That's right, baby - I managed to get 41 hits in on a jump attack before my feet touched ground.

It's a nice time waster if you go for the button mashing type of game. If you do play, I highly recommend playing Samurai Asshole - his attacks are solid, and if you want to cheese through something, just crouch and keep hitting fierce (the D key) and he'll plant his sword in the ground and spin around like a propeller, which is a nearly unbeatable attack.
